Terms & Conditions

OVERVIEW

​

The Competition is conducted by Cyberlite Books Pte. Ltd. (‘Promoter’). The Competition aims to foster creativity and innovative use of generative AI among students enrolled in eligible institutions in Singapore.

By registering and submitting an entry for the Competition (‘Entry’), students agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Entries not compliant with these terms will be invalid.

STUDENT OBLIGATIONS

​

To participate in the Competition, students must:

  • Register in accordance with the eligibility criteria and submit an Entry in accordance with the Submission Guidelines.

  • Ensure that their Entries do not include inappropriate language or material, gratuitous violence, sexual references, or statements or material that, in the Promoter’s opinion, promote hatred towards an individual, race, or community or which are offensive, illegal, inflammatory, obscene, unsuitable for minors, abusive, indecent, threatening, or otherwise unlawful.

  • Submit a signed parental consent form, ensuring that the information provided therein is true and accurate.

By submitting an Entry, each student warrants that:

  • All details provided with the student's Entry are true and accurate;

  • The student's Entry, and the content submitted as part of that Entry, is wholly comprised of original work, created and owned by the student, and has not previously been communicated to the public;

  • The student's Entry does not contain unlicensed commercial works, art, photographs, or images that infringe on copyrighted work,

  • The student's Entry does not contain any identifiable existing product or existing product logo;

  • The student has all necessary rights and licences to grant the rights set out in these Competition Terms;

  • The exercise of the rights granted to the Promoter in these Competition Terms will not infringe the rights of any third parties; and

  • The student will indemnify the Promoter against any loss or damage resulting from any breach of these warranties.

Non-compliant entries may be excluded at the Promoter’s discretion.

COMPETITION FINALISTS AND PRIZES

​

Finalists and winners will be chosen by a judging panel. Prizes will be awarded as described in the Competition details. Finalists must agree to these terms to be eligible for prizes.

​

The finalists may be invited to participate in further stages of the Competition, which may include presentations or interviews, either in-person or online.

​

Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

​

The Promoter is not liable for any incorrect or inaccurate information, technical errors, unauthorised access to Entries, or any other issues that may affect the integrity of the Competition. Liability for any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in the Competition or use of prizes is excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.

DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY

​

Personal information collected will be used for the purposes of the Competition and in accordance with the Promoter’s privacy policy. By participating, students consent to the use of their personal information, name, image, and Entry details for promotional purposes. 

 

GENERAL

​

  • Students may submit only one Entry.

  • The Promoter reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time with prior notice.

  • TThe Promoter may at its own discretion refuse students and institutions entry to the Competition or to award any prize if students or institutions fail to comply with these terms, the law, or if, in the Promoter's opinion, a student’s or institution's involvement with the Competition may cause adverse publicity to the Promoter.

  • Students retain ownership of any Intellectual Property Rights in their Entries and Innovations subject to these Terms. Students will grant the Promoter and its affiliated companies or nominees a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, sub-licensable, royalty free license to use the Intellectual Property Rights in students' Entries (and any component of Entries) for the purposes of the Competition and any promotional and marketing purposes without notice and without any fee being paid, including (without limitation) to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, communicate to the public, re-format and sub-licence Entries.

  • The Competition is subject to the laws of Singapore, and participants submit to the jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.

This Privacy Policy outlines how Cyberlite Books Pte. Ltd ('we', 'us', or 'our') collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards the personal information of participants in Unlocking Generative AI: The 2024 Student Challenge ('the Competition'). This policy applies to information collected through our Competition website and related services.

 

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

 

We collect personal information that participants voluntarily provide to us. This may include, but is not limited to, names, ages, contact details, school information, and any other information related to their participation in the Competition.

 

USE OF INFORMATION

  • Administer the Competition, including registration, communication, and judging processes.

  • Promote the Competition, including displaying Entries and announcing winners.

  • Conduct follow-up activities related to the Competition.

We may share personal information and Competition Entries with our partners, sponsors, and third-party service providers for the following purposes:

 

  • Judging and evaluating the Competition.

  • Promoting the Competition and its outcomes.

  • Fulfilling legal or regulatory requirements.

 

We ensure that these third parties are contractually bound to protect the privacy and security of your information and use it only for the purposes for which it was shared.

 

DATA SECURITY

 

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

 

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

 

We recognise the importance of protecting the privacy of children. We collect and use personal information from children only with the explicit consent of their parents or guardians, as required by law.

 

YOUR RIGHTS

 

Participants and their guardians have the right to access, review, update, or request the deletion of their personal information. Requests can be made by contacting us at hello@cyberlite.org.

 

CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY

 

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website and will become effective upon posting.
